Glock Magazine Disassembly and Cleaning Instructions
Always make sure the gun and magazine are empty. Refer to your owner’s manual for complete instructions, and read the Safety Tips on this website. Always wear safety glasses to prevent serious eye injury when disassembling your pistol or magazines.
STEP 1
Holding GTUL with logo facing up, insert magazine.
STEP 2
Push retaining pin into magazine tube with punch.
STEP 3
Squeeze GTUL and pull forward with punch to expose magazine spring as shown.
STEP 4
Slide floorplate forward, capturing spring with thumbs. To prevent injury gradually release tension until spring is removed, keeping magazine pointed in a safe direction.
STEP 5
Scrub inside magazine tube and remaining parts with brush. Note proper orientation of parts for reassembly.
Refer to your owners manual for complete safety instructions.
PLEASE READ FOR TEN ROUND CLINTON MAGS:
The technique for these magazines can be slightly different than hi caps. The design makes it difficult to push the reinforcement plate into the mag body more than a quarter of an inch. To start, place GTUL on the mag, then push the punch down and forward of the retaining pin. Squeeze GTUL while keeping downward pressure with the punch. Use the punch and leverage it against the front edge of the retaining pin to slide the floorplate off. I have found some ten round magazines where the punch can be moved side to side and worked down in front of the reinforcement plate. This allows you to disassemble these magazines like a hi cap.
